Eva Drivet, David Hills and I will be offering a CSPG Core Workshop on the Methodology for Describing Carbonate and Clastic Core (June 28 and 29, 2022) at the AER Core Research Center.
The workshop will be a hands-on practical learning experience, excellent entry-level and junior-level geologists (and more senior geologists who may need a refresher) the practical, hands-on training and experience for critically observing and graphically logging clastic sedimentary facies in core.
On the menu:
Day#1 will include carbonate cores from Devonian reefs in Alberta to Mississippian ramp settings (Pekisko/Shunda in Alberta and Alida/Frobisher in the Williston Basin).
Day #2 will focus on clastic core and will examine various depositional systems, including incised valley, fluvial, tidal fluvial and estuarine, shoreface and shelf using examples from the Mississippian-Devonian Wabamum – Exshaw -Banff (WEB), Jurassic – L Cretaceous Rock Creek, Niton, Fernie Basal Quartz Ostracod, and Spirit River (Falher).
Also on Day 3 David will join us for a discussion on essential considerations when describing cores for reservoir modelling, with tools and workflows.
A big "THANK YOU" to the CSPG - Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists for running this course, and to Core Laboratories in Calgary for preparing thin sections participants will use to supplement their descriptions. For all course details and registration, visit https://lnkd.in/gNtE_XQq
Deadline to register: June 20, 2022, at 9 am.
